Indian Head, Face & Back Massage – referred to as Indian Head Massage – is a form of Holistic treatment based on Ayurvedic healing system, brought to the West from India where it is used by Indian families for relaxation, and by barbers as part of the service.

The massage involves manipulation of the neck, shoulders, upper back, arms, and face while the person is in the seated position, normally dressed, but can have the top off as well to increase relaxation.

The moves used are kneading, compression, friction, stroking, acupressure, and sometimes light hair pulling for more stimulation.  The pressure techniques are normally used on the face, and the aim is to clear the energy channels and get the energy flow freely. The treatment normally lasts 20-40 minutes.

The aim of the treatment is to help the person relax, providing relief from aches, pains, muscle tension, headaches, stress, anxiety, fatigue. With a large number of people doing desk jobs these days, many suffer from tension in the neck, upper back, shoulders, as well as stress.

Indian Head Massage is a way to help with these problems very quickly, without the need to undress. The treatment is ideal for the work environment and can be performed at the person’s desk.  It can also be a part of another treatment.
