Foods That Promote Heavy Metal and Radiation Detox

Heavy metal and radiation detox is a topic that worries many people today considering the number of toxins in the environment, medicines, water, air and food, as well as the products we use every day. So this is a non-exhaustive list of some powerful plant detoxifiers:

Cilantro has another name – coriander. This is a very aromatic herb that is full of goodness. The herb itself, its seeds and essential oil are used in detoxification and treatment procedures.”Cilantro stimulates the body’s release of mercury and other heavy metals from the brain and CNS into other tissue. Cilantro’s postulated mechanism of action is to act as a reducing agent changing the charge on the intracellular mercury to a neutral state allowing mercury to diffuse down its concentration gradient into connective tissue. “Transdermal Magnesium Therapy, Dr Mark Sircus. Chlorella is freshwater algae that possess powerful detoxifying properties. They are normally available in the form of powder or tablets. The most important ingredient of chlorella is chlorophyll which is a potent cleansing agent. It also helps to deliver oxygen to the body cells, since its structure is similar to haemoglobin. It is a very effective chelator of heavy metals.

The most well-known form of chlorella on the market comes from Japan, and is called “Sun Chlorella”. “Chlorella is “green food,” a single-celled, micro-algae that is about two to ten microns in size. It’s very small. It is this small size combined with the unique properties that make it such a useful detoxification tool. Its molecular structure allows it to bond to metals, chemicals and some pesticides.

When chlorella is taken into your body, its natural action will bind it to lingering heavy metals, chemicals and pesticides found in your digestive tract, which is your body’s pathway to your bloodstream where these harmful toxins are delivered and deposited into your body’s cells. So chlorella first and foremost will help your body eliminate unwanted metals and toxins. But it does more than that.

Chlorella is uniquely designed to not bind to the minerals your body naturally needs to function optimally. It does not bind to beneficial minerals like calcium, magnesium, or zinc. It’s almost as if chlorella knows which metals belong in your body and which chemicals need to be removed. Supplementing with chlorella is like unleashing a tiny army inside your body to fight the battle of removing toxins from your tissues and ushering them back outside your body where they belong.” Source

Spirulina is another type of freshwater algae – single-cell cyanobacteria which appeared on Earth 3.6 billion years ago. Like chlorella, spirulina is rich in chlorophyll which has the same structure as haemoglobin – the red blood cell protein, except that it carries magnesium instead of iron. It is a very effective chelator of heavy and radioactive metals. It is normally found in powder or capsule form.

Spirulina is great when mixed with juice – 5-10 g per serving. It removes not only heavy metals, but other substances as well, and is an excellent internal deodorant. Besides, spirulina is one of the richest sources of proteins, minerals, vitamins and other nutrients which help to maintain a healthy immune system, and body detoxification channels functioning at optimal levels.

Wheat and barley grass – rich in antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and chlorophyll, wheat and barley grass are effective detoxifying agents. They are normally taken as a juice, in small portions, as part of a detox routine. They can be quite strong on the system, so start from about 1 tbsp per day, and work it up.

Seaweed – one of the richest natural sources of minerals, seaweed is very effective at binding and removing heavy and radioactive metals from the body. One of the best and most popular seaweed types for this purpose is Japanese Brown Seaweed (Laminaria Japonica), which has been researched in Russia to have very powerful properties in terms of radioactive and heavy metal detoxification. The iodine contained in it helps to reduce exposure to iodine-131. The alginates in it absorb heavy and radioactive metals even further.

“Scientists at the Gastro-Intestinal Laboratory at McGill University in Montreal demonstrated that alginates derived from Laminaria could reduce by 50-80% the amount of radioactive strontium absorbed through the intestine.” Source

Seaweed is very rich in polysaccharides and pectin which assist in maintaining a healthy heart and immune system and promote detoxification even further.

Aloe Vera juice – supports the immune system, the liver and cardiac health due to a high content of polysaccharides. It has a laxative action on the body and stimulates general detoxification channels.

Chia seeds – are a great detoxifying remedy. Can be added to salads, tea and other foods.

Milk Thistle – supports liver function, maintaining a toxin-free environment in the body.

Dandelion – is a powerful detoxifying remedy that works mainly by assisting the liver and kidneys – the most important detoxifying organs in the body.

Pectin – perhaps the mildest product promoting the removal of toxins and heavy metals out of the body. Pectin is found in the pith of lemons, oranges, apples and pears. It is best to use plant pectin for detoxification.

Pau d’Arco – another very powerful detoxifying herb.

Fibre – it is important to keep the intestines clean by promoting regular bowel movements. Keep eating foods high in fibre. Organic fruit and vegetables are best for this. If you do have a problem, then Psyllium husks, also referred to as ispaghula (or isphagula), is the husks of the seeds of Plantago ovata. Psyllium contains a high level of soluble dietary fibre and is used to keep the intestines clean and healthy. A healthy intestinal tract promotes the efficient elimination of toxins.

You can eat these foods fresh or get them in the form of food supplements and powders.
